Training Programme

Engage students

We are organising a national training programme to equip students with skills to address AMR and other global health issues.

Previous Work

The SfGH-Cambridge AMR training programme ‘Become an Antibiotic Ally Against AMR’ ran for six weeks (alongside students’ studies) and involved two initial trainings for all (on AMR and project management), before the participants (around 75) split into 8 groups to work on specific projects, receiving tailored training to help to do this effectively. Projects included: AMR advocacy in the UK; AMR advocacy beyond the UK; AMR awareness campaign; Finding fundraising opportunities for the PAR Foundation; Social media drive on Instagram; Social media drive on Facebook; Mapping existing AMR research; Organising AMR education (going beyond the University). This has been achieved in collaboration with the PAR Foundation, a charity focused on preventing resistance.

Work this year

We hope to run this training programme for students across universities in the UK in February - March 2022.

The aim of the training programme will enable students and members to campaign effectively in local communities, the online world and with policymakers to prevent AMR. To achieve this we will be working with other organisations working on AMR such as the PAR foundation (https://parfoundation.org/) amongst others. We are hoping to build relationships with professionals in the field who may be interested in mentoring students as they carry out AMR related projects.
